Jazz Ensemble

The Westview Jazz Ensemble is an extension ensemble offered as the fall marching band season winds down. This big band style jazz ensemble has won numerous accolades throughout Southern California, such as the Coronado Jazz Festival, Poway Jazz Festival and the Jazz at the Point Festival.   Professionalism and musicality are equally critical in this ensemble, which usually meets at 7am before school on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The Jazz Ensemble usually performs at the Winter GOLD Show, at least two jazz festivals in the spring, and the Spring GOLD Show. Interested students participate in an audition process, with audition materials taken from the California All-State Jazz Band.   Audition videos are requested towards the end of marching season.

Pep Band

Westview GOLD’s Pep Band promotes school spirit through participation at away football games and home basketball games. Instrumentation is based on volunteers from Wind Ensemble first; then auditions are held shortly after school starts to fill any gaps. Personal maturity and character are just as important as musicianship when it comes to our Pep Band, as students are expected to support our Westview sports teams with pride, positivity, and a great attitude at all times.

Pit Orchestra

Westview's Pit Orchestra provides the instrumental support for the school's musical, produced by the Westview Theater Company each spring.  Participants are usually volunteers from Wind Ensemble who commit to several afternoons and evenings of rehearsals and five musical performances (one matinee and four evening shows).
